While this is a very pretty fixture that nicely bridges the transition between traditional and contemporary, please be aware that the shade is much more shiny/reflective than pictured. So if you want a softer look this might not be the right sconce for you. the chrome backplate is exactly what you'd expect: a chrome backplate. If you are looking for something that looks/feels higher quality, again this may not meet the standards of customers with a more discerning eye for quality. Having said all this, this is actually a very cool fixture. Just expect to be buying a lot of shine.
