I'm a fan of incorporating mid-century modern details in interiors. From furniture, to art and lighting, pieces from the 40's, 50's and 60's are classic and quintessentially modern.
A whole room, however, doesn't have to be in the mid-century style to look great with mid-century details. Mixing beautiful items from different eras is one way to layer a room to make it feel truly timeless.

A contemporary dining room might just need a white pendant light to make the space feel more modern--or a pair of miss-matching ceramic lamps on a teak credenza may add just the right amount of the handmade-modern feel.

Autumn is still 39 days away, but Ms. Leather + Spice is ready for cooler temps now (and so am I)! She's starting to change up both her wardrobe and her space with warm, rich materials and textures in every nook and cranny.
The base of this Black Leather Rectangular Lite Source Table Lamp gets taken up a notch with some white stitching and clean lines. A super smart cool weather look to brighten up an end table or counter space.
Our lady can't wait to hang a trio of these Franklin Iron Works Rust Mini Pendant Lights above the prep space in her kitchen! they lend a beautiful dose of spice and an industrial look.
A pair of these sleek Fuji Stainless Steel with Brown Stacker Bar Stools are a nice accent to Ms. Leather + Spice's eat-in counter. The thick cushion makes a perfect perch for answering emails or flipping through a magazine.
The days are slowly growing shorter, but this Robert Abbey Bruno Bronze Dark Nickel Pharmacy Floor Lamp makes it worth it. Our Miss loves curling up under its focused light.
A pair of Draper Draper White Leatherette Zuo Lounging Chairs make for a cozy, cocoon-like space around the cocktail table. Ms. Leather + Spice's guests always fight for these seats and never want to leave!
This Edison Seeded Glass with Bronze Accent Lamp adds just the right amount of rustic spice to a desk or entryway table, and casts just the right amount of light for the task at hand.

We're neck deep in decorating our new apartment in New York City, but there's one room that's nearly completed: our bedroom! One of the pieces that we purchased last but has made the biggest impact are a set of mirrored storage dressers, which we placed next to each other to create one large storage unit.
At first, I was very against getting mirrored dressers, because I felt like they'd show every single finger print, and I wasn't sure if they'd feel too glam in our otherwise fairly neutral bedroom.
All that being said, I couldn't be happier! Mirrored dressers and cabinets are such a classic accent piece and can add a bit of sparkle and shine into rooms that might otherwise fall flat.
Mirrored dressers can be pricey, but I've found that the ones we ordered from Euro Style Lighting have offered great quality at a really affordable price. In fact, when recently shopping around for other mirrored storage options for a different room, check out this price difference I came across:

Unexpected design is the best design. It’s always an exciting moment when your guests are oohed and awed by your space. One secret weapon is a gallery wall. Collections of art create beautiful moments in a space. One room that you don’t expect to see art is in the bathroom. That’s exactly why you should try it! Especially in the powder room. You will be the talk of the town.
Above we see a clean bathroom space with a simple gallery. It feels modern and fresh. The colors in the art pieces flow together, giving it a very cohesive feel. The mirror and trim above the tile also stand out with the art wall.
This powder room is awesome and dramatic. The deep charcoal walls allow the white matting in the art pieces to pop. I’m loving how it’s an eclectic collection of art, posters and letters. In this case, more is better!
This is a great example of how a little detail can make a big impact. These small prints are water-falling down the mirror in such a delicate way. And to think, all it takes is pictures and tape. Easy peezy!
If you’ve ever wondered how to dress up your toilet area, add simple shelving, some great art and a few accessories to snazz it up. This is also a great option if you’re not wanting to do an entire gallery wall.

Trends come and go in terms of kitchen design - from French country to a sleek modern design. There are thousands of options you can go with and sometimes it's hard to decide which is your favorite.
One that I will never get tired of is white subway tile. Whether it goes to the bottom of the cabinet or all the way up to the ceiling - this look will never go out of style. It's simple, clean and you can add any furniture or lighting to give it your own sense of style.
Luckily with a clean designed kitchen you can add in elements that represent your style – industrial lighting over the table, modern chairs at your dining room table or glam it up with a beautiful chandelier. Skies the limit!

Another way to spice it up, change the color of the grout that surrounds your subway tile, which makes a graphic statement. Now, I’d love to hear your thoughts of what you think of white subway tile in your kitchen. Yay or Nay?
