    Ombre Trend

It's part of our job to keep an eye on design trends, and we can't help but notice that the ombre trend isn't going anywhere. It continues to be a fun element in today's modern home design.

This chic living room above features a beautiful shade of yellow in ombre fashion framing the large window wall. We love this idea and it could potentially be a fun DIY project.

We also couldn't help but notice the cool choice in lighting. Arc floor lamps are also a very strong design trend that we hope sticks around forever!

    modern pool house

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm jealous. And the Jellyfish House in Marbella, Spain, is the reason why. It's not exactly a pool house as my title states, but you'll see what I mean.

Designed by WAA, this beautiful space is sleek as any home design can be, and with retractable floor-to-ceiling windows, it blurs the lines between interior and exterior.

To incorporate water into a space, most of us would think of using tiered outdoor fountains. But the Jellyfish House takes it to another level. Its infinity pool is integral to the architecture. No longer will you need to ask if someone is out at the pool...just look up at the walls or ceiling.

What I like most is the reserved elegance of the indoor/outdoor dining room. A crystal chandelier instantly gives mid-century modern chairs a quick infusion of glamour:

I can't help but wonder about one other thing... Does a pool provide good insulation for ceilings and walls? Somehow, I think it just might.

  • Urban Living In Friendly Architecture

    Architecture

With a growing population preferring to stay in urban areas, rather than purchase homes in the suburbs, designer and architects are faced with the problem of maintaining the element of community in every day life.

We discussed this in our Dwell on Design recap, reviewing Micro Living and sociological shifts. With much of the population choosing to live in the city, without a car, minimal modern furniture and less stuff for storage, high rise living is in-demand.

C.F. Møller Architects, Brut Architecture and Urban Design are closing the gap between urban high-rise living and suburb community living. They're currently developing a 24-story building in Belgium that will be grouped into mini-communities. Apartments will be clustered together with open balcony spaces depending on your style of living, for example families versus students. There will also be a shared courtyard and dining space as well as a roof terrace.

    Balcony Style

Now, you can live in the city and still have a sense of community... But for now, you'll have to live Belgium to find this fantastic architecture and urban living style.

There is no scheduled completion date, but they estimate that it will open sometime in 2017.

    We can't wait!

    Dining Room Design

    Image from Sukio

Do you ever scroll through design sites on the internet, like Pinterest and feel like you can never achieve that look in your home with your budget? Well, you should never feel this way. When it comes to design, there's always a way!

The key is to grasp the overall look of the room you're coveting. What makes it so great? Which is your favorite element... Is it the modern dining table, the chrome dining chairs or the decor?. Maybe let yourself spend a little more on your favorite piece and scale down from there. Or, you just stick with a smaller budget all-around...

    Home Furnishings

We've decided to use this high-end dining room above as an example. We've rounded up some of our favorite Euro Style Lighting Furnishings to help you get this look and to show you that any design style is achievable!
