Sometimes black and white are all you need. The striking contrast of the two color extremes is at once both sophisticated, modern, and clean. Our Ms. thinks it's an impossible to mess up fashion and decor solution!
When relying on such a stark contrast, shape becomes everything. This Planet Chrome and Black Possini Euro Pendant Chandelier has a strikingly eye-catching metal framework on a sizable 31 1/2" wide scale. Ms. Black & White loves showcasing it in her entry area to set the scene.
The corner of the living room won't be ignored with this Holtkoetter Satin White and Satin Nickel Tripod Floor Lamp. This beauty boasts a hand-blown satin white glass shade and a dimming system to help set the mood.
Mercury glass is lovely, but black Mercury glass can take a room to another level of sophistication. Ms. Black & White loves the unique look of the Modern Flynn Mercury Black Table Lamp with it's Reactive finish glass body.
A bold black and white pattern, like this Bold Black Stripe Brushed Nickel Triple Pendant, can make any piece downright show-stopping! By hanging this light fixture over her dining table, our Ms. adds a pop of interest in an unexpected place.
This Typhoon Contemporary White Desk with its clean, modern lines would be equally at home in the office or the foyer as a table. Perfect for Ms. Black & White to organize her mail and keys!
One of the sleekest ceiling fans she's ever seen, Ms. Black & White couldn't resist adding a little airflow to her living room with the 3-blade Casa Metro LED Energy Efficient Matte Black Ceiling Fan!
The double shade on the Possini Euro Nickel Double Drum White Ceiling Light diffuses the best light. Our Ms. loves the way it casts a glow in her hallway.

The Andaz Amsterdam was designed by hotel design extraordinaire Marcel Wanders. The Dutch designer infused an old library situated on the "Prince Canals" of Amsterdam with whimsy and cultural character of the surrounding upscale community.
Bold graphics and sculptural furniture are paired together throughout the hotel to create some jaw dropping spaces. Each room is like a gallery of modern art.
Bold colors and strong lines contrast beautifully with the crisp white linens. Incorporating color is always a great way to add that final splash of character. It's like a cherry on top! Add some to your home with colorful pendant lighting!
Light and sculpture create a very dynamic statement. You can create this wow factor in your own home with the selection of the perfect sculptural floor lamp.
This light installation blows our minds! It's the perfect combination of a modern crystal chandelier and modern art.
It's always a great feeling to walk off the street when traveling and into a fairy tale setting. This is exactly what happens inside Andaz Amsterdam.

All that commuting, all that polluting. Let’s face it, the greenest work space in the world is the one right down the hall: your home office.
So we at Euro Style Lighting decided to envision what we like to call a 40/3 work week. That is, the standard five day/forty hour work week, but with three of the five days worked from home. Such a work week roughly translates into a 60% reduction in an individual’s carbon commuting footprint…or as we like to think of it, an excellent excuse to work in your pajamas.
Best of all, the 40/3 work week gives us a chance to daydream about just how our home office is going to look. Working at home, you can transform any room into an office. If you're in a loft, best to make it a corner office:
Remember this is your personal workspace. No sharing needed, so style it wildly. Keep things open to make so that it's a free-flowing idea space:
For the home office, go personal and do away with all the usual suspects. Choose flat files over regular, vintage over mainstream, stationary stores over office supply stores:
To keep things open and maximize space, furnish it with only the bare essentials. Choose floor lamps or a torchiere for general illumination. Adjustable task lamps add a functional chic look:

Use a small desk or table. Console tables are not nearly as deep as desks and work well in shallow spaces (such as my 3' x 6' walk-in closet office which I absolutely adore):
Frameo Driftwood Console Table
Finish your space off with a laptop or tablet and you're ready to start working!
Building a home office requires as much or as little space as you have and consumer technology has advanced to such a point that it is small enough and affordable enough to enable telecommuting by the majority of office-bound Americans. Yet most of us still spend hours a week behind the wheel of a car to and from work..
Perhaps it's time we re-consider.

Orange is one of those colors that took me some getting used to the idea of decorating with. It’s so bold and bright! Which can be a very good thing. Little pops of orange can really make a room or space a bit more cheery without having to invest in buying a whole new room. I have a tendency to keep my rooms a little boring and neutral. Hello grey! But with just a touch of a color like orange, you can transform a room. It’s fantastic!
This airy kitchen has the perfect amount of orange. The bright orange chairs really pop in the space and are really a focal point which is kind of perfect. There are a few orange accents in the cupboards as well and in other places to help bring it all together. I love it!

This lamp is awesome. It has a kind of industrial feel because of its design and shape, but it's also fun and cheery because of the white and orange. It would look fantastic in a space in need of a little character! The tray is a great piece to have on a end table to catch random items or to serve drinks to guests. Again, the orange is so much fun and a total eye catcher! And this orange tribal print pillow looks great with the grey and helps to tone it down slightly so it will work with the rest of the room. Isn’t it a great pillow?

Now that warmer weather has finally arrived, so has the ritual of spending hours upon hours outside. In fact, families today don’t just go outdoors to play, they create stylish outdoor living.
I love the concept of outdoor living (especially since its only 3 three short months for me). Things like eating meals, cozying up on a couch with a good book and even watching a movie outside are family favorites.
Creating a space to have these memorable and relaxing outdoor moments is fun. I love the bohemian look pictured above. There is cozy seating for adults which blends naturally and beautifully with the tepee for kids to hide out in (talk about fun).
If you are looking to create some ambiance or spruce up your outdoor dining space why not add modern lighting? You can always use outdoor lights but using lights intended for inside adds an unexpected element and makes the space all the more special.
Don’t forget to add seating for the little ones. Although there are many options for great outdoor furniture these days, using regular play chairs (pictured above) is charming. Little ones love anything that comes in their size.
So grab a few things from inside to take outside, add some lighting and cozy seating, get the grill going and have a happy and stylish summer!
