Pale pink gets a bad rap as being too feminine. But what's wrong with that? I have used pops of the controversial hue throughout my home styling and in fact it's a bit of a color crush.
Yes, I live alone which means there is no male naysayer in sight. However, I think it's perfectly acceptable to embrace such a fun color choice – especially when catching a glimpse can put me in a better mood and lighten my spirit!
One way to stay safely on the more subtle side of pink is to go with a dustier shade that's more on the mauve side of the spectrum. This Color Plus Dressy Rose Double Gourd with White Table Lamp is a great example because the abstract modern shape adds extra interest to the piece. If you have a lamp you love and are looking for a way to reinvent it, then drum lamp shades might be the way to go. A cheaper and easier way to get a new look!
I love mixing pale pink with burnished brass pieces because the warmth in both tones play off of each so well! The Rio Brass with White Shade Robert Abbey Pendant Light is a pretty antique tone that will easily mix in with existing pieces, no matter what you room you hang it in.
The Island Party Time Giclee Brushed Nickel Pendant lends a touch of pink to your space without making the color a focal point. It also includes shades of green, blue, and brown and like its name suggests brings an air of fun to the room!
For more antique brass accents, check out the Jonathan Adler Ventana Natural Brass Floor Lamp! The tripod legs and ebony wood are sleek and modern while its natural linen shade lend a natural touch.
The Craftmade Bloom Ceiling Fan with Light is so much fun! I can imagine using it in a room that's otherwise very simple – think white walls – to make its organic shape a real focal point.
With the Fillable Glass with Gold Cylinder Table Lamp everything is left up to you! Fill the glass cylinder with metallic pink balls for the holidays, sweet pink seashells from your trip to the beach come summer – the possibilities are endlessly customizable. Or if you like, leave it empty and enjoy the delicacy of this pretty piece.

Big events like the Olympics and World's Fairs are a great place to discover the best in international design, and pavilions such as Coca Cola's at last year's London games eloquently showcase the vision of contemporary artists, architects and designers.
Designed by Asif Khan and Pernilla Ohrstedt, the pavilion represents the brand's ubiquitous red and white color scheme in a series of more than 200 "air pillows" that, when touched by guests, reproduce a variety of sounds from Olympic theme song to the sound of sports being played.
With more than 200,000 visitors expected, the result is the ultimate crowd-sourced remix. And it represents yet another hybrid in which lighting and interactivity combine to produce stunning results.
While still only the conceptual fodder of international design events, designs like these may one day be commonplace among European-inspired contemporary lighting fixtures for sale. And better yet, such quasi-architectural lighting fixtures may even influence a new way of thinking about how the structural requirements of a space, the functional needs of a user, and outdoor lighting can actually work hand-in-hand.

Isn’t this office a dream come true? I wish my home office looked half this good! The warm brightness of it is perfect. It’s minimal and modern without feeling too cold or boring.
The coral tones are what really stick out to me. The coral paired with the simple white desk and chair, as well as the modern hanging light fixture and clear chair make the room match-y, but not noticeably matching. The rug is also a great neutral piece that helps to bring the whole room together while also adding a touch of coziness to the room.
If you would like to try your hand at recreating this gorgeous office, you are in luck! Here are some items that are similar enough to the ones in this office so you can achieve the same look easily.
Pascal White Plastic Wood 30 1/2-Inch-H Set of 2 Side Chairs, Chloe Set of 4 Acrylic and Chrome Side Chairs, Kite White and Red Ikat Fabric Decorative Throw Pillow, Robert Sonneman Bubbles Globe 22-Inch-H Pendant Chandelier
The white chair is a staple and so easy to find. It actually comes as a pair of chairs, so bonus! The legs of the chair are what get me. I’m a sucker for great furniture legs. Totally great for an office space where hours of sitting at the computer or laboring over some crafts is necessary.
The pendant light is another bonus. It’s three lights in one! So pretty.
The pillow has those same great pink and coral shades in it along with a fun pattern to add some variance to the room (and maybe some back support for those extra long stints at the desk).
The clear chair is great because it is functional and minimal so it looks like it takes up almost no space at all. It’s a great mind game and perfect for any smaller spaces in need of some seating.
So there you have it! With these four items you can easily recreate the office pictured without having to scour the internet and local stores looking for similar pieces. Enjoy!

Sunburst Reflections Antique Silver Resin Round Wall Mirror, Modern Porcelain Vase 28-Inch-H Wildwood Table Lamp, Ikat Cyan/Coral Square 18-Inch Decorative Pillow, Ikat Cyan/Coral Square 18-Inch Decorative Pillow, Sandor Chrome with Clear Glass 12-Inch-H Coffee Table, Marcella Round Cyan Blue 12-Inch-W Tray Table, Zuo Baton Contemporary Steel White Faux Leather Sofa
Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean that it can't be vacation weather all-year-round in your home. I've always loved this warm design by Toby Fairley. It's bright, modern and fresh but it also exudes a happy vibe. I love the unexpected mix of colors in modern home décor and the two sunburst mirrors look like they're smiling at me!
This also is a great, easy layout for small-space living--the white wall, white sofa and glass table keep the feel of the space really open, and the mirrors on the walls work almost as windows and create more light and depth. Love the look of the room as much as me? Here's how to get the look:

Ikat Cyan 12-Inch-H Decorative Bolster Pillow, Modern Square 18-Inch Hidden Zipper Decorative Pillow, Kiwi Green Square Set of 2 Outdoor Accent Pillows, Set of 2 Suzani Textural Lime 18-Inch Square Throw Pillows, Sonneman Unoluci White with Chrome Modern Floor Lamp, Contemporary Chelsea Stitched Cream Bonded Leather Bench, Set of 2 Grey and White Becket Nesting Tables, Yellow Spindle Round Accent Table
This second room also uses fresh colors and pattern against white to keep the room feeling sunny and happy.
The quaint corner reminds me of the six weeks I spent in Copenhagen this past Spring--love the Danish use of brights on white.

Nothing says cozy like a collection of warm fuzzy decorative pillows on a stylish sofa. It also allows you to play with a variety of patterns, colors and textures when styling you home decor. You can keep with a consistent color scheme or you can mix different colors to create a whimsical look. Whatever you choose, don’t be afraid to place a stripe by a floral or an ikat by polka dots.
I love how elegant the pillows look displayed on the sofa above. Metallics are displayed next to furs and neutral tones. Such a beautiful set up! Decorative pillows in all patterns and colors are a great way to simply add lots of personality to any space.

This sofa has a collection of jewel toned pillows in different sizes that compliment this sophisticated room perfectly. The yellow pillow also pulls from the table lamp sitting behind the sofa. It’s a very intentional detail that adds so much.

When decorating a minimalist space, you want to be careful of adding too much patterns and textures. Above we see a simple gray sofa accessorized with simple colorful pillows with hardly any patterns shown. The colors in the pillows compliment the art piece as well as some of the wooden elements.

Notice that each one of these pillows are completely different from the other and still they all brilliantly work together. Each individual pillow ties well together with at least one other pillow. Whether it’s consistent colors or complementing patterns, it’s a gorgeous collection. And it pulls out the colors in the art pieces nicely.
