    Mirrors reflect your home style.

As much as I love art for decorating modern homes, I love wall mirrors equally. There's one large (pun intended) benefits to using mirrors in your home and that's to make your space look larger.

But they do more than that, with all the styles currently out there, you can help define or redefine your home style with modern wall mirrors, depending on the frame, shape and application of your mirrors.

Modern bathrooms are the most common place for wall mirrors.

The bathroom, which is the most likely place to find a wall mirror, doesn't have to follow the typical pattern of medicine cabinet or heavy frame.

Try something like this stylish space above, try over sized and frameless.

Art glass lamps can provide modern elegance for any room in your home.

Whether you want to add a little color or keep things simple, art glass lamps are an easy way to add modern elegance to your home.

The antique style mercury glass lamp, with its three gourd shape and white linen shade provides the perfect amount of light exposure in this whimsical bedroom. Modern art glass lamps are great for providing stylish lighting of course, bu their glass bases also play with daylight in a pretty way as well.

If you want a casual home design that includes lots of light, both natural and artificial, but also a little color then you should definitely try a soft color glass lamp. This living room below is a perfect example of this.

Fall Style Details For Your Home

    Image from the Happy Housie

Fall style details for your home can be as simple or complex as you want.

Want to make your home Fall-ready in five minutes or less? And do it without smothering the house in flaccid browns and tepid oranges?

The leaves are changing shades and so can your floor and table lamps. A new lamp shade can immediately impact the vibe of your home, as in the photo at the top of this post. A fresh palette and playful patterned lamp shades can change a room.

Another option is to keep things pristine this Autumn:

Simple designs, without a lot of color, can also work well for your home in the Fall.

Look for simple juxtapositions with white pumpkins, black accents and try covering the lamp in a white lamp shade.

Or if you absolutely must give the harvest season its due props, then just go au naturale:

Lots of texture and natural colors are great for Fall decor.

Don't have the time or budget to collect antique baskets and mid-century furniture like in the photo above? Pop a few burlap lamp shades on your fixtures and you're good instead. It's autumn after all. Fall-ify your home in five minutes and start enjoying it!

Temporary Decor Ideas For Apartment Living

Image from SF Girl by Bay

There's lots of temporary decor ideas for apartment living.

I know that some of you peruse the internet for design blogs looking for inspiration and then give up because you realize you live in an apartment. Although there are limitations to apartment living, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to create a stylish environment that you feel comfortable in.

    Lighting

The first issue is often lighting because no one wants to deal with electrical, I get it. Neither do I. But modern swag lamps are a very easy solution... All you need is a hook, never mind all the electrical hassle!

    Textures / Layering

You can help any space feel more like home with soft textures, layered or not. Decorative pillows, area rugs, throws are all great ideas. But I love the idea of using a faux fur rug to drape over furniture.

    Paint

One of the easiest ways to upgrade and add personality to any space is with paint. You can select a fun or classic color and paint all your walls, one of your walls or half of one wall. With paint, you can be as risky as you want, or not at all.

    Shelving

Installing shelving is another great way to add dimension to your design without permanently impacting the home. There are different shelving units you can buy, some that need to be drilled into the wall or just free standing shelves.

But even the ones that need drilling will only require you to fill a few holes before leaving. Not a big deal at all, and allowed by most owners.

Another great way to make a rental feel like home is with wall art. Whether you use one piece of art, or design a gallery wall, you'll add instant personality and make your place feel more like home.

    Drapery

Nothing can make a home, bought or rented, feel more comfortable and warm than drapery. I personally love sheer drapery because it's soft and flows beautifully. If you want a little more privacy, just double it up.

    Image from ABC das Suculentas

There's lots of different ways you can use fountains to enhance your backyard.

Today might be the first day of Fall, but that doesn't mean you should write off your outdoor design too quickly, especially if you live in Southern California! Outdoor fountains are a great way to enhance your backyard year-round.

Also, there's lots of cool ways you can use modern outdoor fountains, besides flowing water. We love this succulent idea above!

    Modern Outdoor Design

    Image from One Kind Design

Modern outdoor design is important year-round.

If you're somewhere in a warmer climate, like Southern California, then we suggest succulents for adorning the water flowing fountain and modern outdoor furniture nearby.

Tiered outdoor fountains are also an option if you want to give your outdoor space a style upgrade. Their height and multiple levels of water flow create a wonderfully zen environment.
