Provide contrast to your space by adding a dark element.
In honor of the new Star Wars trailer that was just released, let's take a look at how the darkside isn't always evil...
I love a simple, monochromatic space like all of you, but sometimes adding a little contrast makes it a little more interesting. Just look at this space above and those floors! While painting wood floors super dark may not be a natural inclination, it certainly worked for this space. It grounds the space, while all the books add color and the large pendant lights add style.

Add little dark furniture and contemporary lighting.
Another option is to keep the walls and floors soft, while making the furniture and contemporary light fixtures dark.
The natural light coming from those oversized windows help the space remain fresh and open.

Small elements can make huge impact.
Not sure if you want to paint anything super dark or purchase a black sofa? That's ok, you can add style with something dark by just including a little.
While those black dining chairs and black floor lamp are small compared to the vastness of white space, they create a nice contrast and still make their voices heard.
Whether you go big or small, adding a dark element to your white space will result in big style...
May the force be with you.

Small outdoor spaces can be stylish.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, especially when your neighbors have a bigger backyard than you do.
I'm here to tell you that even small outdoor spaces can be stylish and enjoyable for lounging or entertaining! Here's some beautiful inspiration to take note of...
You don't need two acres of land to have a greenhouse, just look at this space above with its glass cabinet. The green painted trim is a welcome detail. The black pendant light is another unexpected detail, but adds so much to the overall design of the space.

Tiled floors and modern outdoor chairs add style to a small outdoor space.
Want more space than furniture in your small patio? Then just try a couple modern outdoor chairs with a few outdoor accent pillows.
Less is more, especially when you're limited on space.

Patio accent tables provide one more place for pretty plants.
Besides providing the surface area to enjoy a snack or even a meal, patio accent tables also look great covered in potted plants.
Don't feel disheartened if you live in the city and have to fight for outdoor space, the smallest spaces can have big style too...

Stylish modern concrete architecture.
Sometimes, the simplest design can make the most impact. This is no doubt true when it comes to concrete architecture. There are so many cool residential designs with clean lines and concrete exteriors.
Let's take a look at a few and see what makes them tick...
The a-frame form of this home above sets the tone for its modern aesthetic, while the concrete finishes the job beautifully. The bright green landscape is a perfect contrast to the cool grey exterior.

Mixed material architecture with exterior light fixtures.
This modern concrete architecture above rests its success on the use of mixed materials. The wood patio flooring and the adjoining stone wall add depth and personality to the design.
The exterior light fixtures add some pretty details that also keeps the home safe from tripping accidents.

Concrete architecture surrounded by open space.
Nothing pairs perfectly with great architecture like beautiful landscape. This simple, barren landscape above relates to the simple, clean concrete architecture. The end result is harmony between manmade design and nature.
Nothing beats that combination....

Fun styling ideas for your home library.
Happy Friday everyone! Oftentimes, the best thing to do on the weekend is make a fun change to your home decor. The best re-decorating options don't even require any money, but some can be fun DIYs with minimal costs. Let's look at some fun ways to style your home library.
This color coded library above looks really fun. For those of you who have larger libraries in your home, this color coding organization method is a great option. They also do a nice job accenting the bookshelves with modern wall sconces.

Make room for modern lighting with higher bookshelves.
Want to switch things up a bit? Try raising your bookshelves up high, as long as you keep a stylish stepping stool nearby.
This allows more floor space, which you can use for furniture or just leaning cool framed art on the floor. It also allows space for modern lighting on nightstands and dressers.

The fireplace can be used for more than heating the house.
Whether your reading material is books or magazines, they both look great stored in a non-working fireplace. These inspiration images above are very different from each other, but equally fun.

Simple variations can spruce up your library styling.
Add a little style to simple bookshelves your home library by just changing the orientation of your books and accenting them with some home decor (link to "home accessories?). This will add interest and we all know perfection never looks as good as mixing things up a bit!
Have a great weekend!

Outdoor patio chairs are the perfect accent to great architecture.
I'm ignoring that it just rained in Los Angeles and today we're going to get some awesome outdoor patio inspiration. And bonus, enjoy some cool architecture too!
Outdoor chairs are like jewelry to beautiful architecture. Sometimes you want colorful accents, sometimes you want basic neutrals... The key is that the outdoor patio chairs work with your overall aesthetic.
This house above also does a great job coordinating contemporary outdoor light fixtures with the architecture style. The light fixtures are black which helps them blend in to the dark grey exterior, but still able to be seen.

White outdoor patio chairs accent white architecture.
The home owners above clearly have a policy where there can never be too many dining and seating areas.
At this house, you have the option of eating indoors or out, both equally stylish! There's no such thing as clutter because the all-white aesthetic keeps both the indoors and exterior looking clean.

White lounge chairs outside a white pool house.
Who says the pool house can't be as cool as the main house? While we all wish we could have this much extra space, what I'm loving is the clean white color palette and the linear design of both the architecture and the outdoor patio chairs.
Cheers to warmer weather...
