Sometimes it's hard to find a modern table lamp style that is both modern and versatile. Well, Robert Abbey's Delta table lamp will look great in an entryway, bedroom, dining room or living space. And with all the colors, it's perfect for a family home or a bachelor pad!
The glazed ceramic base is topped by an oyster linen shade and the polished nickel finish accents complete the design perfectly. Whether you want a pop of color or a subtle accent to light your room, this is the perfect style table lamp.

Lately, I have been noticing a trend in playhouse beds for kids. Have you seen them? It’s like the ultimate fort that you never take down. And, if you know kids, than you know that they love forts and hate taking them down.
I love this concept, because first and foremost it’s just plain fun, but also because there is a lot of attention on design. It’s almost like designing a mini house within your home. The detail starts with the shape, plays a part in the entrance and the outside and can continue on to the inside. The possibilities are endless.
The playhouse bed can be very modern and simple (as seen above) or ornate with many many details and decorative touches. It’s simply a matter of personal taste and preference.
If you are going for details than this playhouse bed takes the cake (pictured above). I love the attention to design on both the outside and inside. The interior has darling wallpaper and curtains, while the exterior is outfitted with cute little window boxes. But, what really makes the place cozy are the light fixtures adorned on the exterior and interior. Using plug in wall lights on the inside for late night reading is such a great idea. I also think hanging a contemporary ceiling light outside the playhouse would add a very magical starry night effect when looking out your playhouse window.
From a practical standpoint, a playhouse bed is also a great space saver. If you have limited space for a bed then why not build up, leaving plenty of play space below for play?
Or, if you have children sharing a room, like I do, than building a two-story playhouse saves you the space you’d otherwise use up with twin beds. It’s also a creative alternative to traditional bunk beds. And, if it's space you need than there is always the option to build storage drawers beneath the bed, which is a major bonus for stashing all the toys and keeping a tidy room (seen below).
Playhouse beds are obviously a lot of fun, but they are also a great way to get your little ones interested in design and to allow them to have a bit of ownership in decorating their very own little personal space.
If you are looking to have a little fun, be creative, save space and keep your kids room tidy, than a permanent fort in the form of a playhouse bed may just be the way to go. Your kids will love it and I have a sneaking suspicion (the kid in) you will love it too!

Yellow just might be the happiest color there is. It sure does put a smile on my face! You can incorporate yellow into so many different spaces. It’s one of those colors that is bright and colorful but somehow kind of neutral as well.
This room above has a lot of yellow and I like it! It definitely is a happy space, isn’t it? I really like the modern furniture combined with the yellow to make it seem happy and cozy but still clean. I think my favorite part of this whole room is probably the window treatments. So airy and fresh! Combine that with all of the white and cream colors and the whole space feels like a room I could spend the whole day sitting in.

This yellow sunburst mirror is awesome isn’t it? It would be a great focal piece in a room and mirrors are always great for making a space look and seem larger than it is. Win, win!
The table would be a fantastic accent table or end table by your couch. I love the detailing on it.
The lamp might be my favorite item from this little roundup. The clean modern lines and the bright yellow are awesome. If you have a room that is in need of some pops of colorful happiness, yellow is probably just the thing you are looking for!
Dwell on Design, America's largest design event, is back in Southern California at the Los Angeles Convention Center beginning today. However, a series of events and tours has been taking place over the past week; we were fortunate to attend the Westside home tours last weekend to see five exceptional modern homes and an unequivocal highlight was the Dwell Home Venice.
A collection of follies and breezeways, the Dwell Home Venice (designed by architect Michael Sylvester) blurs the lines between indoor/outdoor. This design maximizes the temperate Southern California coastal climate and allows for some stunning sight-lines, such as the below from the master bedroom:
The inside/outside design transforms pine needles (an otherwise nuisance) into a naturally carpeted courtyard just outside the kitchen/dining room module.
The entire structure is clad in ebony stained cedar siding. Leaving the planks out for 8 weeks ensures they are acclimatized to the Venice air and won't shrink or swell once installed.
Rooms were staged during the tours, but one guesses that the final layout will be different once the residents move in sometime later this summer. Which allows us to consider some indoor-friendly outdoor furniture and distinctive contemporary lighting that might work well with such a beautiful space.
Let's start with two new LED pendant lights which Laguna Beach-based Cerno are debuting at the Dwell on Design event:
Left to Right: Cerno Laurus and Mica Pendant Lights
Add something for whiling the lazy weekend afternoons away. The dark weave of this corner chair will look great against the home's cedar siding; UV protection and weatherproofing ensures it'll stay that way come rain or shine.

The Dwell on Design show runs June 21-23, 2013; more home tours are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Expect crowds if you go, but planned to be happily wowed by an impressive array of panels and innovative design exhibitions.
The first thing that your visitors will see when arriving to your home is the entryway. It should give an immediate wow factor for your home. And it also should reflect your personality. Entryways are a hard space to design. Mostly because you want it to feel natural and not too cookie cutter. I’ve found a few entryways that will spark creativity for your own home.
The entryway/hallway that we see above is sleek and super attractive. Benches are great for providing seating when someone has to remove their shoes. That floor lamp is a nice creative touch, paired with the minimalist art.
For a more simple, small space entryway, take tips from this space. I love the wooden knobs on the wall. It’s modern and gives lots of room for hanging coats, hats and bags. Also the stool gives just enough seating and is perfectly paired with the art piece above.
A pop of color always adds character and personality. Try painting the inside of your entryway door a bright color. Also wow your guests by adding a beautiful pendant light above.
This last look is clean with lots of fun details, including the awesome lighting and equally awesome flooring. And can we talk about that built in bench? Perfection!
