Industrial elements are currently a huge trend in interior design. It’s definitely the style my clients are wanting at the moment. This style can be incorporated into just about any design style from contemporary to traditional. Let’s focus on industrial kitchen design.
When designing an industrial kitchen it’s all about zinc countertops, pendant lighting, open shelving and a beautiful stainless steel that is the show stopper.

Possini Euro Enzo Modern Black Pendant Light
It’s all about having a mixture of factory pieces, farm pieces, even school-style pieces - don't worry, you don’t have to pick just one. Luckily for us there’s a plethora of industrial items right here. I’ve pulled a few of my all time favorites that I would place in my own kitchen or even a client’s kitchen.
1. Modern Bronze Atom 8-Inch-W Franklin Iron Works Wall Sconce 2. Zuo Modern Elio Gunmetal Modern Dining Chairs 3. Zuo Fort Mason Industrial Distressed Wood 47-Inch-W Shelf 4. Crosby Metal 30-Inch Howard Miller Wall Clock 5. Edison Style Candelabra Base Light Bulb 6. Uttermost Albiano Single Classic Pendant Light 7. Kichler Sayre Pewter 8 1/2-Inch-H Mini Pendant Light 8. LBL Isla Clear with Satin Nickel Modern Pendant 9. Hudson Valley Haverhill Polished Nickel Modern Pendant
I hope one or many of these industrial items caught your eye. And remember these don’t have to just go in your kitchen – you could add them into a workspace, dining room or hallway.

Designing a home is about recreating a feeling. Today I want to bring home the beach by recreating the calm, beachy feeling--like the kind of feeling that you get when your toes are in the warm sand, you are lying under the shade of gently swaying leaves, your fingers are brushing through the cool, clear sea waters.
To get the look and feeling of the beach in your home bring in objects, art, furniture and lighting that is made from natural materials like a mirror made of driftwood, pendant lights made of shells that sway in the breeze, shades made of seagrass, elements in granite, raffia and cotton. Natural materials give a home an earthy and rustic feel.
By keeping a beachy color palette of natural whites, creams with hints of soft blues and sea greens, the home maintains a clean and cool feeling. The elements of brass, gold and crystal in the mix are like the glimmers in the ocean, the shiny abalone and glistening shells. The juxtaposition of the rustic elements with the shiny elements brings the same balance of relaxation and excitement of the beach into the home.
Add the right greenery (there's nothing like a pony-tail palm to make a space feel beachy-keen) and you're ready to turn even the most urban dwelling into a beach bungalow.

This modern architecture looks cool and disjointed for a really good reason... Located in the forest of Japan, the architecture coexisting with the forest became a key principle for the design team from K2 Design.
Following this concept, the designers arranged several parts, which look like a group of small separate houses, in strategic gaps among the trunks and connected them with short passages.
The smart design doesn't stop there. The house is also raised off the ground on pillars. This prevents snowdrifts in winter and reduces moisture and heat from the ground penetrating the floors in summer.
We would live here, would you?!
Have a great weekend everyone!
When you have some leisure time, there's nothing like curling up in your own home with a good book or magazine and letting the afternoon pass by. But the important question isn't what tome you'd want to relax with -- it's what kind of space you'd want to relax IN!
For today's this and that, we're comparing a retro modern feel to a more Hollywood regency style. Which would you choose?\
