The family room is one of the most important rooms in a home. We might all call it a different name like, living room, front room, or the den. Growing up, it was likely that you had a living room (front room) that was fancy and off limits and then a family room . . . the room you actually lived in. At least that was how it worked in my house. The family room was anything but fussy. Rather, it was cozy, and inviting.
Today, now that I have children of my own, I want our family room to be the ultra cozy room where everyone wants to be together. Of course, I want it to look great too. I’ve learned that everyone wants to be in a place that looks and feels great. The gathering, then, just happens naturally.

I’ve gathered two modern looks for a family room based upon one great sofa (similar to the one shown above). I think sofas are the first piece to start with when designing a stylish family room. Three basics to keep in mind when picking a sofa are size (will everyone fit and does it fit in your space?), comfort, and style.
The first look (above) is modern, airy and cozy all at the same time. The minimal modern look of the furniture paired with a few whimsical elements, like a hanging tree branch work for all ages.
Look two (above) is a bright and playful. The sofa and lighting are the stars of the show. This room proves that you should never rule out thinking outside of the box. I love how they have used a fun wallpaper pattern on the ceiling. Who wouldn’t like to lounge on a great sectional and stare up at the pretty colors and pattern? Another fun, easy DIY element, as pictured, is to print out your instagram photos and create a shape on your wall like a heart or maybe even a geometric pattern.
One thing this room doesn’t lack is inspiration.

So when designing a cozy and inviting family room of your own, keep comfort, style and creativity in mind and you can’t go wrong.

One of my favorite spaces to decorate is the modern bedroom. It seems that the sky's the limit when decorating this space. It’s also a very important space to decorate because it’s where most of your time is spent. And though you may be sleeping for most of that time, you need to be sleeping in a comfortable, serene space.
One trend that I’ve been seeing a lot lately is adding a little pattern to the bed, layered over white or neutral bedding. This look is great because you can play around with it and you’re not bound to the look. It’s easy to switch it up. Above we a cross blanket draped over simple white bedding.
Light pastel hues are also a huge trend right now. It’s the perfect, soothing palette for the bedroom. Pair these colors with greys, whites and creams for a delicious palette! Accent pillows are a great way to add these colors.
In this bedroom space (above), patterns have been layered over one another to create a whimsical, playful room. Everything about this room is fun, and it totally works!
Here is another layered approach. They’ve places a southwest inspired blanket on top of neutral gray bedding. The colors in the blanket allow the art piece to pop. And it all mixes so well with the wood tones.

Summer has officially began and whether you will be able to go on one of those tropical summer vacations or not, you can always let your home decor reflect that summertime fun. The beaches and their tropical waters are a true inspiration to many. Sea-foam green meets the pink-sand beach to create an energetic, but soothing interior. A modern sofa in a soft green is a bold move, but makes a fun statement. Natural wood accessories will always bring balance and sense of nature to any space.
A contemporary ceiling fan is a great way to bring that summer time breeze inside your home. Bold colors can be added with the use of accessories, such as pink table lamps, and keep in mind this is something that can easily be changed with the seasons! Here's a few of our favorite items to bring that summer fun into your home decor.

Palm trees...who doesn't love palm trees?! They signify summer beach fun and just look how gorgeous this modern interior looks with a wall to wall painting of palm trees. If you can't keep the plants alive or don't have the necessary sunlight this is an amazing alternative. The modern floor lamp shines bright like the sun in this space keeping it fresh and airy. Rattan chairs and modern graphic pillows are a great way to bring that relaxed vibe into your own home.
