I think I'm having a design identity crisis. For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to gorgeous, clean-lined modernism. If you're here, I'm sure most of you love modern home style. I prefer monochromatic palettes, beautiful wood finishes, and a few well chosen accents. I've always loved how calming and neutral it felt, while still seeming really hip and livable like the image above from Dwell.
But lately, I've been drawn to a more updated "traditional with a twist" style like the bottom image from Elle Decor. Granted, we're not talking Shaker chairs or anything like that, but definitely a more buttoned up feel, with pieces that get their inspiration from antiques or old classics. Lots more patterns. Way more rattan. What's happening to me?
Luckily, there's a way to do both if you're somewhere in the middle like I am...
Robert Abbey Ventana Brass Sconce | Kichler Modern Sconce
It's created a bit of a design conundrum at home, that's for sure. In fact, there are a few areas of our apartment that I'm guessing will sit semi-unfinished for a while as I sort through this crisis. But in the meantime, I wanna know -- which style do you prefer?
Modern sconces like these above look great on any wall, whether your style goal is modern or more transitional.
