Looking for industrial interior design style inspiration? Melrose Market in Seattle's uber-hip Capitol Hill neighborhood is a collection of artisanal market stands and restaurants in a triangular block of storefronts once occupied by two auto shops.
Despite the raw, rusted surroundings, this renovated commercial space is as warm and inviting as any residential living room could ever hope to be, and it's proof positive that industrial, loft-like decor can be both cutting-edge and timeless at the same time.
Hanging warehouse pendant lighting and cozy outdoor barn light fixtures are the de facto lighting choice throughout the place, both outdoors and indoors.
Anchored by the market, an arcade-like space that runs through the middle of it all, the development is frequented by Seattle's digital creative class. A simple Google image search of "Melrose Market" is telling, turning up countless results from personal blogs and photography sites.
Raw and rust-finishes are present throughout. Seating and furnishings are comfortable and range from well-loved plant stands to chic modern bar stools, albeit with rustic or natural finishes. The result of all these industrial accents is a space that instantly has a sense of provenance to it. And it doesn't take much to get the same effect in a room at home:
Carnegie Abbott Cigar Leather Club Chair, Olde Bronze Kichler Mini Pendant Light, Zuo Marius Gunmetal Modern Counter Stools, Barn Wall Urban Metal Outdoor Wall Sconce
The best thing about industrial style? The well-worn look gets better with age, making it easy to incorporate hand-me-downs, thrift store finds, even curbside discoveries. Hey, it's not where you find your home furnishings...it's what you do with them that counts.

I am head over heels in love with this bright and cheery modern home style. It’s one of those spaces where everything in it seems to have been made to be in that room. I really like the different colors and the simple lines. It has a modern feel but also a fun and almost kitschy feel about it too. I love it!
If you're thinking some of the color on the walls might be a bit bold, don't worry there are other ways to incorporate the same colors into your own home without committing to painting a whole room or ceiling! For example, these few items would be pretty perfect for helping to recreate such a fun and colorful space in your home.
1. Possini Euro Design White Flower Acrylic Pendant Chandelier 2. Big Wave Lime Green Steel Outdoor Folding Table 3. Wendover Modern White 34-Inch-H Zuo Dining Chair 4. Turquoise Glass Contemporary 8-Inch-H Bowl Vase
Instead of painting the walls, switch that option out for a fun dining table for a more unique and colorful one! That way you get the same fun effect but it’s not as permanent. This green table would be perfect for doing just that! I love that it is round too. Makes it even more fun!
The light fixture is what really brings the whole room together. It’s the super fun element and it adds quite a bit of texture to the room. You really can’t go wrong with a fun white pendant light.
The vase helps to bring in another fun color while also adding some shape to the space. Wouldn’t it look gorgeous with a little bouquet of yellow or pink flowers? I think so!
And these chairs are white with clean lines, similar to the wood chairs in our inspiration image, just a little more modern. Which is awesome in my book!

One trend that's been undeniably hot in both fashion and interiors over the last few years is the mod style. Anything and everything mid-century -- especially if it has a mod twist is right on trend.

It's no surprise, really, because this clean, modern, slightly funky approach to style lends itself well to so many different types of spaces -- and accessory lines.
You've probably seen one of the most common ways to incorporate mod style into the home... the infamous sputnik chandelier!

Below are a few of my mod style favorites. You can create a designer look with these light fixtures.

Whether you are attracted to a more minimal style or you are an avid collector, black and white spaces can be the perfect palette for you. They give off a stylish vibe that can only be created with a lack of color and a splash of sophistication.
The best way to create this look is by painting the walls white and incorporating modern black furniture and accessories. The room shown above has a sleek black leather sofa displayed in an all white space, creating a great contrast.

This space has a black fireplace that looks amazing against white walls. There’s also a black buffet that compliments the black fireplace. If you are wanting to fill in your space with complimenting accessories, use gold accents and a little greenery.
Also, you can never go wrong using contemporary ceiling lights to brighten your entertaining areas.

Using white and black prints can create a minimally modern style. Frame them in thin and simple white or black frames to not take away from the prints themselves.

Here’s a perfect black and white living room, complete with a rad gallery wall. They have really taken this black and white trend seriously. There is no color in site and it’s just perfect that way.

Dining rooms are the perfect opportunity to really make a statement with your lighting choices. Whether you choose a pendant or chandelier, one or two fixtures and go for either a contemporary or traditional piece, you're bound to impress guests with a show stopping fixture.
I've rounded up a few of my very favorite statement chandeliers for you.
Jonathan Adler Meurice Brass Chandelier, Schonbek Bordeaux Bronze 32-Inch-H Chandelier, White Glass Chip Satin Nickel 12-Inch-W Chandelier, Robert Abbey Bling Bronze Adjustable Two Light Pendant, Wesley Modern Aged Brass 15-Inch-H Robert Abbey Chandelier, Gwen Modern White 20-Inch-H Possini Euro Chandelier
Metallics are very on-trend this year, so choosing a shiny brass, gold or silver finish for your chandelier is a great way to bring that trend to life in your home. If you prefer all-white decor, the large modern white chandelier shown above might be the perfect touch for your dining room (or any other room, for that matter!)
For the apartment or small abode dwellers, the small bling chandelier in the bottom right corner above, would provide a bit of glam to your space without taking up too much visual space. It would sit pretty over a small round table, quaint enough for your morning tea or a casual dinner with friends and family.
